‘Bagger’ Bennett Lands Zerofit Silverfish Final Win and £5,000 at Bradshaw Hall Fisheries Near Bolton

Andy Bennett is the new Angling Trust Zerofit SilverFish 2022-23 champion following a perfect display of pole fishing at this season’s £10,000 grand final hosted at Lancashire’s Bradshaw Hall Fisheries.

The match ace, nicknamed ‘Bagger’, angler lived up to his moniker with a 31lb 14oz haul of skimmers, roach, and ide to collect the £5,000 top prize along with a Zerofit Baselayer Package including the Heatrub Ultimate baselayer, Ultimate Leggings, Ultimate Neck Warmer, Ultimate Socks, Performance Move Hoodie and Thermal Hat.

Bennett’s final haul was just over 4lb too good for England international Cameron Hughes who finished in second place on 27lb 5oz and collected £2,000 for his runner up spot in a final which saw over £10,000 paid out thanks to generous sponsorship from clothing giant Zerofit.

Filling the next spots were Steven Reid in third on 26lb 8oz, Jordan Holloway with 23lb 14oz for fourth, and last year’s champion Steven Forster in fifth place overall with 22lb 6oz.

This year’s competition saw hundreds of anglers take part in 20 nationwide qualifiers starting in last October with 40 section winners each securing a place in the grand final, as well as a Zerofit Heatrub Ultimate baselayer, Performance Move Hoodie and Thermal Hat.

Zerofit Managing Director Michael Morton was on site near Bolton for the practice day that preceded the Silverfish final, meeting some of the competitors and overseeing a photo and video content shoot that will go live in the Autumn.

‘It was great to see the country’s elite anglers in action, and speaking to a number them it was further proof that Zerofit’s baselayers and accessories are made for guys who are highly competitive as well as weekend warriors who enjoy the sport on a more causal basis,’ he said.

‘We are proud to partner with The Angling Trust in general and support the immense work they do, and we have been excited as a team to see the development and interest in this year’s SilverFish competition and we hope to continue to support both in the future.’

Fishing is one of our four key markets along with motorcycling, golf and hiking, and we regularly receive glowing reviews from participants from all four audiences highlighting just how much they are enjoying the benefits Zerofit products offer,’ he added.
