Science Friction To Beat The Cold Snap

Science Friction To Beat The Cold Snap

Well, that didn’t take long! Just three days into the new year and the Winter Weather Gods have shown their teeth by plunging the UK and Ireland into sub-zero temperatures – but the Zerofit Heatrub Ultimate Baselayer was designed for days like these.

However, we know people are sceptical – how much difference can a Zerofit product make compared to a regular baselayer?

So, we submitted the Ultimate (£59.95) for Heat Retention Testing at the Boken Quality Evaluation Institute, Japan’s leading organisation for clothing and textile fabric analysis. The result? It was FIVE TIMES WARMER than a standard baselayer. Here’s the science behind the award-winning product.

Five Times Warmer - Fact

Stating the Ultimate is five times warmer than a standard baselayer invites scepticism, which is why we deemed it crucial to have the product independently analysed.

For reference, a standard baselayer would have a Heat Retention Rating of 0.1-0.14. During testing, the Ultimate scored 0.78, a total game changer for anglers, farmers, hikers, motorcyclists, campers, golfers, sailors, skiers, scuba divers and other outdoor enthusiasts. It’s also hugely popular amongst people who want to keep the heating bills low in the house and for everyday use.

Heat Threads For Instant Warmth

Most baselayers rely on compression to seal in body heat to keep you warm. This takes a while to work, and if you’ve experienced a normal baselayer, you’ll know they are not always the most comfortable. The Ultimate is a different beast.

Zerofit founder Mr Koji Higashi wanted to create a product that didn’t need to be restrictively tight to work, so the design team went about developing a fabric mix that actively generated warmth instead. These ‘Heat Threads’ work instantly as soon as you pull the Ultimate on and because the material is so soft, you can wear it for hours on end in complete comfort.

Heating From Top-to-Toe

With the Ultimate proving so popular, we created matching Heatrub Ultimate Leggings (£59.95), Heatrub Ultimate Socks (£25) and Heatrub Ultimate Neckwarmer (£25) which utilise the same Heat Threads s they perform in the same way as the top.

And new for 2024/25, you can experience the same toasty warm feeling on your hands with the Heatrub Ultimate Waterproof Gloves and Convertible Mittens (£69.95 per pair).

Save Money With Bundles and Rewards

We have a number of Zerofit Bundles available too, including the Heatrub Ultimate Complete Bundle that incorporates all the Ultimate products, as well as the Thermal Bobble Hat for a combined cost of £229.95 – a saving of just under £30 versus the individual prices.

Plus, with every purchase, you’ll add Zerofit Rewards points to your account for even more savings on future buys!
