Comeback Kid Redding Heading To Portugal In Confident Mood

Zerofit athlete Scott Redding has set his sights on an even better second race weekend of the WorldSBK season as he heads to Portimão for the Pirelli Portuguese Round.

The 32-year-old – now back on Ducati machinery for the MGM Bonovo Racing team – enjoyed a highly-encouraging opening weekend at Phillip Island in Australia where he recorded three top five finishes (5-4-4) at the Melbourne circuit.

‘Australia was a good race weekend for me, and I was very happy how the whole weekend went. Obviously, I would’ve liked to be on the podium in the final race but it was a good start to the season and that’s what I needed to build my confidence going into the rest of the year,’ said Scott, who switched to Zerofit baselayers in the pre-season.

‘I changed over to Zerofit for 2025 and I have been absolutely amazed with the level of this product from day one for motorcycle racing under the suit. I’ve not worn anything as comfortable and as breathable as Zerofit’s IceSkin and Ice Weave baselayers.

‘For training on the bicycle or running, I use the Heatrub Move Baselayer which keeps me warm at the start of the session when I feel the cold, but then it regulates my body temperature as I work harder for longer, so I feel I can train comfortably in cold conditions. It’s definitely a brand I would not be going away from in the future,’ he added, as attention turned to the forthcoming race in Portugal, where Scott has finished second four times.

‘In the past with Ducati around Portimão it has not been one of the easier tracks for me, but I have been able to get some podiums in the past. I do suspect this weekend we’ll have challenges but I’, confident I can also fight the top five and maybe even a podium.

‘Because we’re a satellite team, we haven’t changed anything on the bike. There will be no updates as the year goes on so we race the bike (as it is), which is good for me because I have not been in this position for many years - I can just focus on my racing,’ he added.

With nearly five weeks between Round One and Two of the WorldSBK season, the Gloucestershire racer – who has 12 wins at that level to his name – has been working hard on his fitness away from the track, including taking part in a Sprint Distance Duathlon, finishing in an impressive 23rd place out of 173 entrants.

I’ve been training hard between the races to be physically and mentally prepared for round two of the Championship. I thought I was going to die multiple times during the run, but that’s the best thing about pushing yourself to the limit. And I’ve been getting back into cycling too, which is my main go to for training, said Scott.

Everyone at Zerofit will be cheering him on this weekend, and you can watch the action live on TNT Sport this weekend, March 28-30!
