The Back Story – Literally
In 2023, Zerofit signed Glenn Irwin (pictured), the most successful superbike rider in the history of the NW200. Glenn challenged us to create a new summer baselayer, that allowed cooling airflow across his back while racing, as well as wicking away moisture – but which would also be perfect for every type of biker around the world.
On Valentine’s Day, 2025, the IceSkin Baselayer was unveiled at the MCN London Show Motorcycle Show at Excel – and while it has grown into THE baselayer of choice for thousands of racers from the Isle of Man to Macau, it also captured the imagination of the mainstream thanks to the Rhombus Mesh Design across the back.
For commuters, adventure riders, enduro fanatics, cruisers and many more, the IceSkin changed the game when it came to summer rides.
Three And A Half Times Colder Than Other Baselayers
The IceSkin is a fusion of two technologies – in addition to the Mesh Design, the front of the baselayer utilises material called Cool Stamp Tech® which is literally cold to touch.
Backed up by scientific fact, the IceSkin was subject to Q-Max testing in Japan, an analysis of how cool the surface of the fabric is. The higher the Q-Max value, the cooler the fabric.
The IceSkin recorded a value of 0.358W/cm2, whereas competitor products typically scored below 0.1 W/cm2 - making the IceSkin more than three and a half times colder.
