Zerofit Athlete Glenn Irwin Outlasts The Conditions To Complete Double At Snetterton

Zerofit athlete Glenn Irwin returned to winning ways as the Hager PBM Ducati rider clinched victory in the second and third races at round five of the British Superbikes Championship this weekend, as well as the Race of Aces Trophy at Snetterton.

In changeable racing conditions, the Carrickfergus man trusted the performance of the Ice Weave Baselayer and Cold Skin Leggings on his way to an important double that sees him back on top of the overall BSB Standings on 177 points, four clear of his nearest rival.

It was also a good weekend for a number of other Zerofit riders including Andrew Irwin, Nikki Coates and Peter Willis, who produced fine performances in their respective competitions.

A crash in Friday qualifying meant Glenn started back in 14th for Race One, but he battled through the field to finish fifth, setting himself up for what was to come later in the weekend.

The 34-year-old used his experience to outlast the competition in a restarted Race Two - his fifth victory of the campaign - before an epic battle ensued in the final race of the weekend. Irwin made his move on lap seven to take the lead, and saw off last season’s Championship winner and former teammate Tommy Bridewell to close out the win, to the delight of a packed Snetterton.

Fellow BSB Championship contender Andrew Irwin - using the same combination of Zerofit baselayers as his brother - enjoyed his best weekend of the season after 7th, 5th and 6th placed finishes amounted to 30 points from the three races for the Honda Racing UK team man.

Lee Jackson - on the MasterMac Honda - finished in the points in both Race Two and Three, and he is now just a point clear of Andrew with the pair on 69 and 68 points respectively in the overall standings.

In the ABK Beer 0.0% BMW Motorrad F 900 R Cup, Zerofit’s Nikki Coates battled hard for the full eight laps before finishing in second for the Team Art of Racing/Ernie Coates Trackdays team, just 0.011s behind the eventual winner.

‘It was fantastic to see Glenn return to winning ways and move back to the top of the standings, but we are also delighted for Andrew as his season improves weekend by weekend, said Michael Morton, Zerofit MD.

‘Nikki has been a new arrival to Team Zerofit so it was very pleasing to also see him on the podium after a thrilling race,’ he added.

In the British Talent Cup, Peter Willis also trusted the performance of Zerofit baselayers to record his first ever podium with a highly-impressive second place finish, his best result to date in the BSB Support series.

The Microlise Cresswell Racing Team rider recorded the fastest lap in the race, which meant a first-ever Pole Position for the second race, before some mechanical problems forced a 19th place finish.

‘Our commitment to supporting young riders through the British Talent Cup is something we will continue to do in 2025 and beyond, so everyone at Zerofit was of course extremely pleased to see Peter on the podium over the weekend, too,’ said Mr Morton.

Race fans flocked to the Glenn Irwin Merchandise Stand over the weekend to buy dual branded Zerofit products including the ZFGI Heatrub Ultimate Baselayer and ZFGI North West Polo Shirts, as well as the Performance Move Hoodie - which was in high demand due to the weather in Norfolk!

The Zerofit Events Merch Team will be back on site at Brands Hatch for Round Six on July 19-21.
