‘Zerofit Is Just On A Different Level‘ – Anna Ross, Equine Expert

As attention turns to one of the great weeks in the horse racing calendar – the Cheltenham Festival – we spoke to bloodstock agent Anna Ross to find out how she’s been able to the hurdle the cold weather this winter with Zerofit baselayers.

Alongside husband Kevin, Anna works in the Kevin Ross Bloodstock (KRB) family business, buying racehorses for clients both for national hunt races and on the flat, as well as pre-training younger horses for imperial racing.

And while much office work is needed around the buying and selling of thoroughbreds, both Anna and Kevin spend a great deal of time in the fresh air, putting the Zerofit Heatrub Ultimate and the Move baselayers through their paces.

‘We have a guy and a girl who work here in the yard, and we buy them Zerofit Christmas presents – they are invaluable for what we do. No matter how cold or windy it is in the morning, you put the Zerofit on and you know there’ll be no draughts and you’re guaranteed to stay warm for the day,’ says Anna, who comes from a distinguished family of jockeys and trainers.

Her father Arthur Moore and grandfather Dan Moore both rode and trained Irish National Winners, and the latter also had the distinction of training L’Escargot to victory at the 1975 Aintree Grand National. During his career, Arthur has had eight winners at Cheltenham, including What A Charm in the 2011 Fred Winter Juvenile Hurdle and also Klairon Davis who triumphed in the Arkle as well as the Queen Mother Champion Chase. Fast forward to this year’s festival, and Anna and Kevin have significant interest in the 2022 edition too.

‘We’ve got a number of horses at Cheltenham this week including Fantastikas in the Ultimate Handicap Chase on Tuesday and Imperial Alcazar on Thursday in the Paddy Power Plate, he’s got a good chance. The most exciting part of the job is to see the horses do well and win the big races and just being successful. Kevin bought Imperial Commander and he won the Gold Cup in 2010, so he would stick out to be a favourite of ours,’ adds Anna, who has been trusting Zerofit product since Autumn 2018 when the Irish owners of the European business first brought it over from Japan.

‘Before Zerofit, we hadn’t really come across a baselayer for this industry aside from normal running tops that you would have used as a thermal, but Zerofit is just on a different level, it’s so thick but also breathable. We use both the Ultimate and the Move throughout the year, and the products are very flexible for riding out. But they’re also great when we do a lot of sales in the autumn and winter. They’re brilliant for these, when it’s cold and you could be on the go outside from 7.30 in the morning until the sales end, and that could be as late as 8 or 9pm,’ says Anna.

As the brand continues to grow in multiple sports and outdoor activity markets, Zerofit is hugely appreciative to Anna of Kevin Ross Bloodstock for talking to us. You can read more about what they do at www.kevinrossbloodstock.co.uk
